Early Intervention

Early Intervention Services

The Early Intervention Program is an active member of the Wood County Early Childhood Coordinating Committee and the Ohio Help Me Grow System. The program is designed to meet the needs of children from birth to 2 years of age who show evidence of a developmental delay. Staff work closely with the family and acts as a resource. The program also works closely with other county agencies to provide comprehensive services for families.

Early intervention services are provided in a variety of natural settings. As the needs of each family are unique, the setting for services is determined on an individual basis. Center-based programs are located at the Jordan Family Development Center on the campus of Bowling Green State University. The Jordan Center serves the local community and is licensed to operate programs for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. This setting provides the opportunity to interact with other young children and their families. The program is nationally recognized by CARF, the Rehabilitation Accreditation Commission and holds a current three-year accreditation.

Occupational therapy, speech and language services, and adaptive physical education are available as part of developmental play groups led by licensed early intervention specialists. Behavior supports, nursing, transportation and family support services are available based on the child’s Individual Family Service Plan (IFSP).
